The given line graph compares the amount of commodities being transported by four different means from 1974 to 2002 in UK.
On the whole, as can be seen from the graph, there was an upward trend in road, water, and pipeline over the period of the given years. In contrast, the tendency of pipeline remained nearly unchanged, although it experienced fluctuation among the given period.
Turning to detail, it is salient that the most popular transportation is the road, transporting the largest number throughout the given period, from 70 to nearly 100 million tonnes of goods. On the contrary, the pipeline witnessed the least number of transportation, from about 5 million tonnes in 1974 to merely over 20 million tonnes of goods in 2002.
Last but not least, the most striking point is that the transportation of water intersected with that of rail in 1978, standing at 40 million tonnes. It is also interesting to note that the water transportation rose to the second most utilized transportation in the end of the given years, although it observed the second least quantities in goods transport in 1974.
