The line graph given illustrates the information about the number of workers who did not have a job in the United States and Japan over the course of six years, from March 1993 to March 1999.
Overall, what stands out from that graph is that there was a decline in unemployment in the United States, while Japan was the opposite trend over the period.
In March 1993, the United States stood at the highest point in the percentage of jobless, just over 7.0% while there were only 2.4% of those in Japan.
Over the six years, the number of unemployed people in the United States saw a significant fall until March 1995, about 5.5%. Subsequently, this figure keeps going on dropping considerably to bottom out after remaining stable in March 1999, about 4.3 %. In contrast, the percentage of jobless in Japanese grew slightly, around 3.5%. After that, this number stayed at the same level before increasing moderately to top out in March 1999, approximately 4.8%.
