The graphs below show the enrolments of overseas students and local students in Australian universities over a ten year period.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The line graphs given illustrate the number of Australian students, divided in freshmen and the total, who decided to undertake a college career either abroad or locally between 2000-2010.
Overall, the number of students in general has increased. Furthermore, it can be immediately noticed that there has been a huge increment of student migration overseas.
More in detail, students leaving their home country from their first year constantly grew, going from about 10000 in 2001 to just over 40000 in 2010. Meanwhile, the same cannot be said regarding local students: although their number is consistently bigger, its fluctuations are almost irrelevant, oscillating around 200000 new enrolments per year for the whole decade.
The total student’s pattern is worth of notice too. Even though freshmen didn't grow much, local studies boomed during the first seven years, growing from 400000 to 600000, plateauing until 2010.
Regarding overseas students, the growth was consistent, with a linear trend, staring at 20000 to just above 80000.
