The graphs depict the total number of medals won by the top five countries in the summer and winter Olympics. The winter Olympics graph accurately reveals the details on the number of gold, silver and bronze medals bagged by each country.
Overall, leading countries of the summer Olympics won the highest number of medals compared to the medals in winter Olympics. Great Britain and France were new addition to the list in summer Olympics replacing Norway and Canada from winter Olympics.
Norway with 370 followed by United States with 310 are the two major countries with maximum number of medals. Though Canada overtook Russia in the final score of medals, Russia with a relatively higher count of gold medal was supposed to take over the 4th position. Thus, Canada lost the 4th position with a narrow lead of about 20 extra gold medals by Russia.
The summer Olympics, had few different talented countries to grab the victory. United states with a total of 2500 medals tops the list with a clean sweep. Russia with 1800 and Germany with 1600 medals climbed up for the next rankings. Norway which topped the winter Olympics seems to have lost the top five category in summer Olympics. Great Britain and France made their dashing entry in to the top five with a notable count of medals.
