The graphs below show the types of music albums purchased by people in Britain according to sex and age.
The bar chart compares the proportion of british buying three different kinds of music albums in terms of sex and age.
Overall, women tend to purchase albums more than man in Britain. Additionally, it is also clear that classical music is less popular than pop music and rock music for British citizens of all ages save 45+ bracket.
The percentage of albums women buying is about 28% for pop music and exactly 30% for rock music, which is higher than that of man with 19% and 16%, respectively. In addition both these kind of music are preferred by those who are from 16 to 34 years old and the figure for those people is around 50%. While people over the age of 45 show less interest in the first two genres, accounting for under 10%, the figure for those being in 3544 group is around 26% in both music types.
In contrast, classical music fails to gain popularity to almost kinds of British people. Under 9 % of men and women make purchases for this kind of music albums whereas those of 26-34 bracket and 35-44 bracket are much lower with only 1% and 3% in order. Besides, it is also noticeable that the oldest age group is ranked in the first position and made up exactly 20%.
