The infographics below show employment statistics for UK residents by English language proficiency in 2013.
The report aims to provide information about the rate of employment for British citizens by their proficiency in English in the year 2013.
Overall, it is obvious that male residents saw a larger percentage of employment than females in each level of proficiency, with the highest rate in those whose native language is English. Of those in employment, the most popular occupation was Elementary for proficient and non-proficient English users.
A vast majority of native English speaker was employed in 2013 which specifically was 75.5% of men and 68.3% of women, accounted for the highest employment rate in Britain. While the employment rate of English proficient users was the second-highest at 65.4 per cent, that of non-proficient users was the least which only less than half of them was employed in 2013, especially for females at approximately 34% was in employment.
Of those non-native employees, the most common career was Elementary which was 19.2% and 38.2% for proficient and non-proficient English users respectively. Unlike the others, Professional was the most popular occupation among the native British people followed by Technical profession at the rate of 13.2%.
