The given maps compares the town centre of Islip in the present and the future development. On the whole, there is a tremendous change in the future of the town centre.
As can be seen from the map in the present layout, there is a main road running through the centre of the town, situating between two rows of shops. Housing area is located in the central and south of the town. Moreover, the school and gardening area are built in the southwest and the east of the town, respectively. Country side lies in the north district of the town.
In the prospect transformation, the town centre will be encircled by a dual carriageway. Secondly, several shops in the north would be replaced by bus station, shopping centre, car park, and new housing. Besides, portion of the main road would be demolished and evolved into pedestrian area. Last but equally important, the park will become much smaller, with the new residential area beside it.
