In some countries, parents expect their children to spend a long time studying both in and after school and have less free time. What are the positive and negative effects on children and the society they live in?

Many parents nowadays ask their children to focus their energy and time on study. Although it is true that concentrating on study academic courses will benefit academic performance, I would argue that children who spend too much time on study may have problems in communication skills.
Children who spend their majority of time may get excellent achievements, which can allow them to enter university in the future. What students can learn in academic course at school can provide a firm grounding for university and find decent jobs. For instance, students who just focus on mathematics skills school can learn how to build models to analyse data at university and works as financial analysts and engineers after they graduate. They are less likely to master mathematics skills perfectly if they just spend little time on it.
When children are asked to focus all their time on study, they will not be disturbed by external factors such as playing computer games, watching violent films that may have a negative influence on their study. For example, these children always concentrate on studying languages and do not watch movies and play computer games at home; they will have high study efficiencies because they do not have time to do these activities. As a consequence, they can master languages well in a short time.
On the other hand, if study occupies all their time, they may become unsociable and unwilling to communicate with their peers. For example, since they keep studying every day no matter at home or school, they cannot hang out with their friends, which can cause damaging to their communication skills. Without good communicating skills, they can have difficulty in gain knowledge in the future, draw upon the ideas of other people.
In conclusion, I would argue parents should not ask their children to spend all of their time studies. Although learning courses play a crucial role in their future life, communicating skills should not be ignored.
