The table below gives information about changes in modes of travel in England between 1985 and 2000.

The table compares England’s travelling by various modes of transport from 1985 to 2000.

According to the table, many transportation increased in term of distance per person. There was a considerable rise in the usage of car, long distance bus train, taxi and other. Furthermore, the most fashionable mode was car at 3,199 miles to 4,806 miles, standing at around 80% of all English used it in 1985 and 2000.

On the other hand, some transportation methods were less popularity during 15-year period. There was a slight decline in walking and bicycle, from 255 miles to 237 miles in 2000 for walking and from 51 miles to 41 miles for bicycle in 2000, whereas, local bus usage was dropped significantly from 429 miles to 274 miles. Even through, taxi was the last position in 1985 at only 13 miles, bicycle was the least popularity transport in 2000. As well, people in England tend to travel longer distance from 4,740 miles in 1985 to 6,475 miles in 2000.

In conclusion, some mode of transport was increasing, and majority people used car for travelling.
