The table gives information about underground railway systems in various cities. This data is provided in three different categories like date opened, kilometers of route and passengers per year. Overall, the underground railway system was first introduced in the year 1863 in London and Tokyo has the highest number of passengers who travel by train.
To begin with, the longest railway lane with a total of about 394 kilometers was built in London with 775 million passengers per year. On the other hand, the shortest railway track is established in the year 1981 in Kyoto facilitating least number of people to travel accounting to 45 million in a year. Also, Los Angeles’s rail system which was started in 2001 with a length of 28 kilometers carries just 5 million more passengers compared to Kyoto railways.
However, the number of passengers travelling by train per year in Tokyo is 1927 and this was first started in 1927 with 155 kilometers of route. Paris has the second highest number of travelers following Tokyo accounting to about 1191 million people per year. A railway lane with a lenght of 126 kilometers was built in Washington DC in 1976 with 144 million passengers travelling every year.
To sum up, it is evident the longest railway track was built in early 1900’s and the primary means of transportation in Tokyo train.
