The pie chart illustrates the amount of money spent on restaurant and home food in four different years while, the line graph gives information about the number of meals taken per year in both fast food and sit-down restaurants for the same years. Overall, it can be seen that in the past restaurants were not so famous but now almost half of the people prefer hotel food. Among the type of meal, fast food is more popular when compared to sit-down restaurants.
To begin, the total amount spent on restaurant meals increased from 1970 to 2000. Firstly, in the year 1970 only 1% of the total expenditure was spent on the restaurants to have food while rest of the budget was for home food. However, this number significantly increased from 1970 to 2000. This number rose by 5% in 1980 accounting to 15%. The total amount of money invested on restaurant meals was more than a third in 1990 and reached 50% in 2000.
The line graph clearly shows that more number of people enjoyed having fast food when compared to restaurant meals. It started off with 20 meals per year for both type of meals in the year 1970. Both followed a similar pattern increasing gradually from 1970 to 2000. From the year 1980, number of meals taken per year significantly rose finishing off at a most of 85% in the year 2000. Sit-down restaurants also saw increase in the consumption of meals, but this number was almost half of fast food meals. All in all, in the past people preferred home food but now consume restaurant food and fast food restaurants are much popular among other food courts.
