The table below shows the expenditures of four car companies in the UK in 2002.

The table compares how advertising budgets of four car manufacturing companies were used in 2002.

Generally, it is clear that Renault spent the most on advertising. Also, TV was the most invested channel of promotion while cinema was the least.

In 2002, all four companies spent their respective largest figures on TV advertisement, with Cetirizine at the lead (70 million dollars) and Vauxhall following closely at 65 million. Renault’s budget for promotion through TV was only 1 million shy of 60 million dollars while Rover spent 45 million. 45 million was also the amount paid by Renault for press promotion, which was 7 million more than what Rover paid. By contrast, Vauxhall and Cetirizine spent significantly less ( 8 and 12 million, respectively).

Interestingly, advertising via radio cost 15 million dollars for each of the four companies. At slightly less than half that, outdoor promotion was the fourth most costly area for Renault and Vauxhall, while Rover and Cetirizine invested 2 and 3 million dollars only. It is noteworthy that the latter two did not allocate much budget to cinema advertisement whereas the former spent similar amounts (5 and 6 million).
