Dear Sir,
I am writing this letter in regards to the offer letter issued to me on 25th April, as per which I am expected to join your company on the next Thursday 5th May. I regret to inform you that I would not be able to present myself on the mentioned date due to some family emergency.
Let me explain you my situation and problem in detail. Yesterday morning, I was informed that my father has got a cardiac attack and have been admitted to the hospital. I had to rush for my hometown immediately which is nearly 500 miles from my current work location. Given I am the only child of my parents, I have to fulfill my responsibility to look after my father. Upon considering the conditions here, and discussing with the heart specialist, it feels that I would be needed here for at least a month and would be able to commence the new job on 30th May.
I apologize for the last-minute fluctuations and the inconvenience. I hope you would understand the criticality of the matter and hence I request you to kindly push my joining date to 30th May. I assure that I would try my level best to turn up as early as possible.
