Dear Sir,
I am writing to request you to extend my joining date as I will not be able to join office from next week.
I was interviewed on Jan 24th and offered a position for software engineer in your company. My supposedly joining date is Feb 21st. However, I am afraid to say that could not be possible for me.
I must explain the reason for my delay is an operation that my wife is scheduled to undergo next week. She got her leg fractured in an accident 3 days ago. Though, she is on prescribed medication but there isn't much improvement in her pain and leg movement. So, doctor has advised for an advanced treatment through operation.
According to doctor, it would take her fortnight to recover completely and able to walk again. In such condition I have to take proper care of her and our 2 years old kid. So, I request you to please extend my joining date by 3 weeks, this way I would be able to focus on my family in an hour of need without worrying about any work commitments.
