You are due to start a new job next week but you will not be able to because you have
some problems.
Write a letter to your new employer. In your letter
• explain your situation
• describe your problems
• tell him/her when you think you can start.

Dear Mr. Thomas
I am writing to let you know that I am very excited about working for your company also I want to thank you for this opportunity but unfortunately, I won't be able to attend the office on the first of July as we had agreed. Sadly, my wife's father has passed away last night because of a heart attack.
My wife is affected by the situation, and we will be traveling to her hometown tomorrow morning. The problem is communication is not optimal in the town, and the nearest airport is located four hours away by road. The next flight back to the city is due for the next Monday, I have already booked it, but I won't be able to return to the city until Wednesday morning.
Thursday morning I will be at the office at eight o'clock. I hope this won't affect our future working relationship since I am happy with this opportunity.
Thank you for your understanding.
Kind Regards
