Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing this letter to express my dissatisfaction on the idea of expanding the regional airport as it will be a major safety concern to the residents of the locality.
My residence is in Gulistan-e-Johar society which is five minutes drive away from the airport. The society comprises of multiple blocks approximately 10 - 12 with each block having 10 stories.
The project of airport expansion will result in a serious safety hazard for the people living in the vicinity. As the number of flights will increase after the closure of the project, the landing and take-off of flights with tall buildings in the proximity can lead to fatal accidents resulting in loss of lives of both the passengers and the local living in the near-by area.
Furthermore, it will cause noise pollution and will be a security risk. We have seen past incidents where airports, being a strategic asset, have been targeted. Moreover, considering the tension with the neighboring country, the authorities are requested to reconsider the decision taken again and shift the airport in an area with less civilian population.
I hope the authorities will take up this matter and will review the decision of expansion.
