You borrowed some books from your school or college library. Unfortunately, you have to go away to visit a sick relative and cannot return the books in time.
Dear Library Custodian,
I have borrowed four 'Auditing Theory' books that is due for me to return this Monday. I won't be able to fulfill that commitment and for that reason, I am writting this letter.
I was informed over the weekend that my mother got into cardiac arrest and is needing by pass surgery. My siblings and I flew back to our province and would stay here until my mother recover.
I would like to express my deepest apology and also request kind consideration for my case. I would return those books as soon as I can and hopefully my penalties are not that steep.
In our estimate, we might stay over a month here. I would also entertain a response on any alternative action I can take. I have packed two of the books with and left the others back in the dormitory, thus, sending thru a courier is not an option. I really need your understanding in this trying times.
