go away to visit a sick relative and cannot return the books in time.

Dear Sir/Madam
I am writing this letter in regard with the delay in return of the books i lend from the college library two weeks back. I want to make a request for the extension in the issued time and thereby no fine to be charged. My grandfather is going through a heart surgery tomorrow so i have to leave for my hometown immediately and would not be able to come to college for next few days. Since its far away from Muscat and I am the only grand daughter he has, i might have to stay there for a little while longer, maybe a week or more. However, I will make it my priority to return the books as soon as I get back in Muscat.
Since I have a valid reason and I am informing prior to the returning date, i hope to get some extra time for the books and not to be fined. My previous record has been up to the mark as I have always returned the books well before the expiration of issued time. The books that i have with me are Fluid Mechanics by McGraw Hill, Edition 6 and Fuel and Combustion by Narain Kapoor, Volume 3. I will have a plenty of free time while I will be in Buraimi as i would not have any other activity else then spending time with my grandfather, hence, I plan on making a good use of my extra time with these books by taking them along with me and studying them. This will help me with the sessionls that will be held in the next month.
I will be grateful to you for considering my request for extending the date for the books I have got issued.
