Some people believe that government money should be spent on important things rather than arts such as painting and music. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

It is thought that government should not allocate resources to funding for art. While it is essential to prioritize expenditure on other important things, I would argue that spending money on arts have a lot of benefits.

On the one hand, there are two main sectors should be top government priorities. Firstly, investing in education must be high on agenda. The governments have the responsibility to ensure that every citizens are literate and educated. They need to establish more schools and provide scholarships for students coming from poor background. Secondly, healthcare is another significant sector. It is necessary to provide adequate funding to train more medical practitioners and conduct research for a cure for diseases. By doing that, the public health can be improved.

On the other hand, I believe that the government should invest money in arts because of some advantages. The first reason is that literary and artistic heritage are steady sources income of a country. This is because the leisure industry has experienced a dramatic boom in recent years. For example, in London, opera houses or other concert venues are thronged with tourists. Furthermore, arts have a profound impact on culture. In today's global world, painting and music play an integral part in cultural expression. For instance, people from different parts of the world can understand and communicate with each other via images and sounds.

In conclusion, while it is true that top priority of government should be other important sectors, I disagree that the art should be starved of public money.
