Today s fresh food like vegetables or fruits travels thousands of miles from the rural areas or farms before it reaches customers in cities or urban areas Why is this Is this a positive or negative trend Give reasons for your answer and include any releva

Nowadays, food products travel thousands of kilometres from villages or farms to consumers in metropolitan cities. This trend has resulted from growing demand for food products and climate geography. I think that this trend has positive impacts on both farmers and individuals.

To start with, an obvious reason is the increasing demand for fresh fruits and vegetables in cities. For a start, in urban areas, people are unable to find places where they can purchase fresh food products, and hence they demand fresh fruits or vegetables. As a result, farmers import food products from farms to urban centres. Furthermore, climate and geography are another reason for this trend. Some regions' land is not suited for certain food products because of geography or climate. Vegetables, for example, like potatoes, only grow in regions where the rate of humidity is high, along with land that has the quality of absorbing water quickly.

However, this trend is beneficial for uraban individuals because they have a wider range of options to buy food due to this trend. As a result, they can eat fresh fruits and vegetables, which have minerals, vitamins, protein, and other essential elements. Moreover, when food products are transported from farms to urban areas, farmers have the opportunity to earn money. For instance, 67% of Indian farmers import food products to metropolitan cities because not only do they earn money, but also the urban population can have access to fresh food.

In summary, long-distance transportation of fresh food is driven by climate, geography, and demand. While there are positive impacts of this trend, such as the fact that urban populations have access to fresh food and farmers can earn revenue,
