Some people think that all university students should study whatever they like. Others believe that they should only be allowed to study subjects that will be useful in the future, such as those related to science and technology.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
Education has become an important factor for gaining respect in the globalized world. Societies around the globe have it made it critical to one's survival. However, there is a raging debate whereby some believe that education should be based on one's interests and not based on future prospects. In the below paragraph I will discuss both sides and put forward my opinion.
As the human race is progressing, science and technology play a pivotal role in laying the foundation for its success. Hence people around the world see roles or jobs related to science and technology as growth drivers thus they believe that if they choose similar traits and become scientists and engineers their future will be more secure. Such trends are evident nowadays where computer graduates end up in high paid jobs in Multinational companies like Google and Facebook. Similarly, graduates from science faculty end up working for pharmaceutical giants like Ranbaxy, Cipla thus laying a strong foundation for their future.
Similarly, on the other hand, we see some people who like to study where their interests lie such as arts, music or sports as they believe that it will be beneficial for them to not only enjoy and excel in what they are doing professionally but also contribute to the society. such examples can be found in the past where great visionary people like Shakespeare, Edison, Beethoven who made immense contributions to the society globally.
Thus, in my opinion, looking at different facades of arguments, I conclude that it is utmost important for people studying in university to carefully choose the subjects which they want to pursue as a long-term profession to be successful and make valuable contributions to the society.
