Some students prefer classes with open discussions between the professor and students and almost no lectures. Other student prefer classes with lectures and almost no discussions. Which do you prefer . Use reasons and examples to support your answer.

A class is an important place where students improve their social and educational skills and gain different kinds of knowledge. Many students prefer classes with open discussion whereas others prefer the opposite. There may be different reasons for these preferences but it is my belief that the classes with the open discussion are better than classes with no discussion and I am going to explain why I feel this way.

One factor which has led me to feel this way is that classes without open discussion are dull for students. Because when a tutor just gives the lecture, the class become monotone and students may get bored quickly. On the other hand, classes including open discussions are more attractive and helpful to students. When they join the discussions, each of them finds an opportunity to express themselves. So they learn to respect others' thoughts and become more open-minded people. I am going to exemplify this with my own experience. When I was at the university, I would not join many classes because I knew that I could get knowledge by myself by reading books. They would just prepare slideshows and read them. But there were a few classes which include just discussion with minimum lectures. During those classes, I was very enjoying because the professor would ask us different questions so that we could learn to express ourselves. Those classes also increased my curiosity and after them, I was doing a research about what we discussed.

Another factor is that classes including open discussions help students to improve their social skills. Some students may be shy and they may have difficulties to meet new friends and join the groups. These classes help them to overcome their shyness and be more social people. My own experience will demonstrate this concept. When I took the business management class, the professor asked all students to make a slideshow and present it in front of the class. All of us had to give a speech by summarizing the topic. At the end of the presentation, the presenter would respond to the questions. This assignment helped us to deal with shyness and we became more confident.

In conclusion, there is no absolute answer to this question but in my opinion, there are many advantages of the classes including open discussion for students. They attract their attention and help them to be more social, intellectual, and confident people.

---------------------
Better to have 5 paragraphs with 3 arguments. And try always support/against one side but compare two sides, like this:

para 1: introduction
para 2: reason 1. address both of the views presented for reason 1
para 3: reason 2. address both of the views presented for reason 2
para 4: reason 3. address both of the views presented for reason 3
para 5: conclusion.

So how to find out those reasons. There is a formula:

reasons == advantages or

reasons == disadvantages

for example, we can always apply 'save time', 'save/make money', 'find a job', 'make friends', 'get more information' as reasons to all essay/speaking topics.

or we can apply 'waste time', 'waste money', 'no job', 'make bad friends', 'get bad information' as reasons to all essay/speaking topics.
