the benefits of using hydrogen-based fuel-cell

First, the author of the reading explains that the internal-combustion engine is mainly relies on petroleum which are not available as hydrogen. This idea is challenged by the professor. She argues that using hydrogen from water requires a lot of works which cause it difficult to use as suitable fuel.
Second, the reading posits that petroleum is responsible for some environmental problems such as air pollution which can convince car manufactures to use hydrogen instead of petroleum. The professor argues that hydrogen can cause some critical environmental problems too. She mentions that the processes of making hydrogen as a usable fuel for cars such as converting water to gas make a lot of pollution by itself.
Third, the author claims that using hydrogen as a fuel would be cost-efficient. The professor, on the other hand, refutes this claim. She puts forth the reason that materials which is suitable to fuel-cell engines are expensive and it would be costly for the manufactures to reduce its price.
