Cheeatgrass
The reading states that being an invasive, cheetgrass causing many problems in Morth American field such as swift dominating fields and providing severe damage to local animals. The passage propose three solution to cheatgrass problem. However, the professor explains that these solutions are not to work.
First, the article claims that evcoraging cattale and other livestock to feed on cheagrass can reduce the amount of the cheatgrass. Therefore, in this way native species could reestablish themselves and flourish again. The speaker refures this point by saying that the cheatgraas is not a kind of plant that cattle and other livestock prefer to feed on. Also he is saying that, there are still kinds of other planets they prefer to use first so releaseing them in fields where cheatgrass is prevalent will have an opposit effect.
Second, the author states that a vast anount of the cheatgrass could be eliminated in a short time if it burns, and this is possible because it burns easily than other native plant specie. However, the lecturer contends that it is true that the cheatgrass burns easily but it doesn't mean it won't quickly comeback. He aserts that, many cheatgraass's seed pushdown below the surface and fire cannot hurt it, and also, these seeds in the soil could spread and reproduce.
Third, the reading passage avers that using a fungal parasite could be beneficial to prevent cheatgrass from reproducing. However, the professor opposes this point by saying that the cheatgrass and the fungal live togheter for thousands of years and for now, the cheatgrass is able to resistant against the fungal. He also states that this fungal parasite hust can hurt some cheargrass bieng waek or sick. Consecuntly, entring the fungal to North America is not beneficial.
