According to the reading, the first popular commercially successful comic strip was Hogan’s Alley. This Strip and its character were American in every aspect and also it was drawn and written by an American cartoonist. The specific argument is challenged by the lecturer. He claims that Hogan’s Alley was not the first successful comic strip, infect there were many other famous comic strips before and these were from Europe, and Britain
Secondly, the author mention in the reading that, the character in the strip was American in every aspect. The first famous comic book in the world was from America. He goes on to say that, Americans invented the comic strips, and Americans have exported their unique art form to the rest of the world. Even the Japanese comic, called manga, was inspired by American comics. The lecturer, however, asserts that comics are not a uniquely American art form. He claims that the character of Hogan’s Alley comics was an immigrant from hungry. 16 years before the release of action comics in America, Tin-tan was the action comic most popular in Belgium. He also mentioned that American Disney comics were created by Americans, whereas the Europe Disney comics were Created by Europeans.
Finally, the author puts forth the idea that comics are a uniquely American art form. In contrast, the lecturer’s stance is comics are not a uniquely American art form.
