According to lecture, the whole idea of dividing students into grade by chronological age is not up to the mark. The professor gives some points for taking that stand. In European system, children begin formal schooling at age of six. This does not consider the difference in maturity and readiness among the children. This creates problem for some slow children who are not ready for the formal schooling. The different in maturity can be of physical or mental. This can lead them to repeat the year, which according to lecture is burdensome to the children. This is also a considerable reason for the higher dropout rates.

On the other hand, some children are enough mature at the age of four or five. They have to wait long to get formal schooling, which too is not appropriate. Moreover, formal schools have group expectations they do not concentrate on individual problems or demands. In fact, individual students are never addressed. This leads to two possible negative situation. The person with higher gaining power have to wait for some time till the new material available. On the other side, student with lower gaining power has to re-read, re-analyze the same data and same information.

These are the main points, which according to lecture casts doubt on the ideas present in the reading passage about European system of school organization.
