electronic devices

Essay topics:

electronic devices

The reading and the lecture both have conflicting opinions about whether or not electronic devices are good for health. The reading passage strongly postulates that there are many side effects of electronic devices. On the other hand, the listening delineates that the claims made by the author in the reading passage are not true.

First, according to the author of the excerpt, people's critical thinking has been effecting by electronic screens and it often stops individuals from caring about the source of information. Nonetheless, the lecturer offsets these points by declaring that paper materials weigh limits than electronic devices. She says that information from paper materials are limited, which can lead to biased thoughts. Also, paper materials offer different perspectives.

Second, the writer contends that electronic devices can be detrimental to human being’s health and it can lead to more serious health problems. The lecturer, however, dissents this claim by mentioning that these devices can not harm people if they take breaks in between. In fact, issues like eye problems, headaches, and neck pain can also be caused by paper materials. By taking frequent breaks as well as stretching the body, one cannot affect himself. It is just a matter of body habits.

The article lastly points out that electrical devices can cause addiction, which can hinder communication between individuals. In contrast, the speaker in the listening counters these indications by insisting that electronic devices can actually improve people's social skills by increasing their convenience and become familiar with the wide variety of topics on the internet. Additionally, people can share their thoughts with other people. Thereby, the professor precisely disapproves of the key points in the reading.

In conclusion, while the reading passage discusses the side effects of electronic devices, the lecturer opposes each of the claims by using reasons and evidence.
