Discipline is the self esteem that can be achieved either by using power or by withholding of affection from the ones whom the discipline is to be taught. The passage shows the three strategies for disciplining children that is power which includes the use of physical punishment such as spanking or the threat of physical punishment. According to the professor, some psychologist believes that discipline can be inferred with punishment while other believes that it can be inferred without physical punishment. Parents can enforce good behavior naturally and physical punishment should be given if bad behavior is found among the children.

There is another way of incorporating discipline among children by withholding of affection that is taking away them from using the car or taking the toy from the child. But the professor's view on effective behavior is that good behavior can by reinforced by the parent by inculcating good values and by teaching them good things rather then punishing them or withholding them from their affection. The professor also tells that discipline can produce healthy level of good values among children which will alleviate them to be successful and become a better person.

On the final verdict, Discipline should be inculcated by good behavior and values rather than by physical punishment or withholding of affection according to the professor.
