Both the reading the passage about the meaning and the use of the carved stone balls found in Scotland the author of the reading passage suggest three theories about the purpose and the meaning of the stones, the Lecturer cast doubt about the claim made by the author, He thinks that none of the three theory is correct
First of all the author point out that the stones might be used for hunting , it is mentioned that “Some of the stone balls have been found with holes in them “ and these holes can make the stone easy to hold and fight /hunt so as to swing and through this point is challenged by the lecture , She Said that there is no sign of wears ,crack &damages
Secondly the author claim the second theory which state that the stone might be used for measuring or weighting , the article notes that most of the stone have same size like 70 mm diameter this theory been rebutted by the lecturer , She argue that the in spite that the stones have almost the same size , they have different density which means that the stone can have two different weight for the same dimensions , the lecturer emphasizes on this point by mentioning there the stones there different in type some stone made from the sand for from other material which lead that the stone cannot be used for measuring the weight
Finally the lecturer discuss the third theory that been suggested in which the theory suggest that the stones used for social occasion this the lecturer denied this theory because some of the stone is very simple and there is no stone been found inside Grave where usually the old people used to bury the stones with their dead people
