Under the license, the owner acquires the right to use the company's brand name and agrees to sell its products. In return, the franchising company receives a percentage of sales.

Both the reading passage and the lecture arguess the franchise, permison to use the name of large and well-known company and sell its products. With this in mind, the author states that franchise has several advantages for people who want to start up a new business. On the other hand, the professor contradicts all three episodes of arguments mentioned in the passage, believing the results of some study show in opposit of the autor claims.

First of all, the writer points out that a franchise eliminates some of the problems that people will be faced when decide to start their own independent business, for instance, trouble in finding reliabe suppliers of goods and services. Conversely, the lecturer makes it clear that some franchises make it force to buy some specific goods and services which are expensive, while there are some cheaper goods in the markets.

Second, the reading selection holds the view that an benefit of franchise is elimination of advertisement fee because you will become a part of a well-known and popular brand. However, the lecture explains that people how buy a franchise should pay 6 percent of the total of their income to the company. Moreover, the company doesn't advertise your business and just advertise the brand. So, the individuals do not take advantage of compony advertisment.

Finally, the author mentions that franchise is more secure that opening up your own nonfranchise business. On the other hand, the speaker contradicts this idea and explains that the result of study shows that the independent businesses are two times successful than franchise.
