Essay topics:

Professors' appear on TV

According to the reading passage, there are three main advantages that professors appear in media. However, the lecture casts doubt on the reading by using a number of points that are contrary to that view.

To begin with, the reading passage claims that professors, who participate in diverse TV programs gain recognition as authorities among not only students but also a wider audience. On another hand, based on the lecture those, who are involved in media, usually are considered rather as entertainers than scholars. As a result, TV professors are usually not invited to vital conferences or researches.

In addition, the author of a reading passage points that not only professors benefit from appearing in TV shows but also universities. When public observes an intelligent faculty member, they usually think highly about college. In contrary, according to the lecture attending, appearing in TV shows is extremely time-consuming. Professors spend much time rehearsing and traveling. Instead, they can use that time for preparing to lectures and doing researches.

Finally, the reading passage put forwards that public also gains from professors’ attending shows. TV viewers learn something new that they have never heard before. However, according to the lecture, TV network has no intention to engross into wider knowledge and all that viewers need is an academic title.
