Selling fossils to private collectors

Essay topics:

Selling fossils to private collectors

The lecture states that the purchase of the fossiles by private collectors is a negative point and supports it with three reasons however the professor in the lecture believe that this is good and refutes each of the reasons.
Fisrt, the passage claims that by purchase of fossile by private owners, public visitors won't have access to them and as a result the fossils will be less observed, but the professor refutes this idea and states that with private collectors in this market, there will be more opportunity for fossils to be exposed to public; this way any school and meusum will have the chance to buy and expose a fossile to public.
Second, the article states that scientists who will benefit the most from the researches they are doing on fossiles, will lose their connection with them and so the important scientific aspects will be lost. However the professor avers that all of the discoveries are carried out by researchers and after fossiles being examined be them and passed through this channel, will be sold. So there will be no data that will be missed for scientists.
Third, the reading claims that there are some facts that scientists pay attention to and the private collector are not aware of, such as their places and the way they lay on ground and so on. In this manner, private owners do not pay attentiion to them and an important aspect would be lost. However the lecture states that although this fact may be a deffiency, but it is attracting collector’s attention and as they investigating lots of money on this, there will be more oppotunity to find fossils and benefit from its scientific aspects.
