Essay topics:

Some parent offer their school-age children money for each high grade (mark) they get in school Do you think this is a good idea?

Although encouraging children to study and getting the high grade is a useful way to make them try harder in school, offering money to the children for all of the high grades would not be a good idea. There are three main reasons to support my idea.

First and foremost, offering money for all high mark made children studying conditional. In other words, they will be encouraged to study only to earn more money, so, they fail to consider a more valuable aim for themselves. For example, most of the children in their childhood consider an imaginary career for themselves such as astronomy, engineering, or teaching; by giving them money after each high mark, their goals will turn to the receiving money and their horizon will be smaller.

Another prominent reason is that; by offering money after each success, they get used to it and receiving money will change to an expectation. In this way, if one day, it would not be possible for parents to give them money, they will be sad and it may affect their behaviors or even their attitudes toward studying. For instance, it could be possible that the economic condition of family change and parents do not be able to pay money to all their children for all good marks.

Last but not least, after a while, by repeating giving money to the children, this will change to a cliché for them and would not be as effective as before. However, in order to encourage children in all aspects of their lives, not only studying but also all effort and success, it is better to sometimes give them different stuff which they may need. By this work, on one hand, they do not get used to receiving something after each good grade, on the other hand, they will be surprised by receiving a small gift like a storybook or a beautiful pencil.

To sum up, according to all the aforementioned reasons, giving money per each excellent grade, made children conditional, they get used to it as an expectation and it will be changed to a usual thing after a while.
