Summarise the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they cast doubts on specific points made in the reading passage.

According to the reading passage, three possible causes were mentioned to suggest the reasons for Little Ice Age that lasted from about the year 1350 until 1900 CE, while in the listening section, lecturer claimed that passage's arguments are out of date, and he stated some competing theories.
In the passage, author pointed out three theories. First, the cooling may have been caused by disrupting of ocean currents. Second, volcanic eruptions could have cause the little ice age. Finally, substantial decrease in human populations may have contributed indirectly to the cooling of the climate.
However, in the listening section, speaker suggested some controversial ideas that contradicted to passage's information. First, passage argued that Gulf stream disruption could have caused the little ice age, while lecturer claimed that Gulf stream was in the Europe, and it affected only some particular countries, although little ice age was contributed to the whole world, such as New Zealand. Second, volcanoes produce visual effects such as colorful sunset, which there was no reports about that in the passage, so idea of volcanic eruption was not strong enough. Finally, forest trees and agricultural growth had not enough time to work on cooling the climate, because forest trees were cut down immediately and there were not long enough to cool the climate.
