Essay topics:

Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they challenge the specific theories presented in the reading passage.

The reading and the lecture offer two opposing views on accuracy of a historical evidence. Whereas the author of the reading suggests that the coin found was not the genuine proof for representing a historical evidence, the lecturer states that it could be one of the Norse's possessions. She challenges the main points made in the reading by providing three reasons.
First, according to the text, the Norse settelments were very far from Native American site which proofs the impossibility of the fact that Norse possessing the coin. However, the lecturer believes that because Native American had traveled to Canad, the Norese settelments, they could bring back som objects such as the coin with them. She says that other objects in addition to the coin were found in the sit.
Secondly, the reading claims that no other coins were discovered in the site, which indicates that the coin was a fack evidence. Nevertheless, the lecturer disputes that Norse people had traveled to Europ and they might pakced all their silver coins for bringing back to Europ. She explains that finding no other coins, not necessary shows that the coins was not the real hisorical one.
Finally, the author asserts that Norse people knew that their silver coins were not valuable for American residents and they did not have any of them. On the other hand, the lecturer argues that due to the attarctive appearance of silver coins, American could have alure to possess them. Therfore, Nore peopel had used their silver coins for trading with American. American residents might know about the worthwhile silver necklesses, for example.
To recap, the lecturer casts doubt on the three points mentioned in the text about the precion of the historical coin found in the Native American site.
