The lecture and the reading passage are discussing reducing the salt level on lake water in California. The lecture cast in doubt with passage by giving reasons for being not good solutions. it explains that solutions are not convenient and the reason I will show below.
First, the speaker says that water pumped into the facilities and heated is not a good idea because reduce the facilities and problems are showing with other materials that are coming with this water. As a result, chemical toxic will be part of the lake and wind contribute to separate the chemical toxic on air. this is a danger for humans and definitely not a good idea.
Second, the lecture presents the fact that bringing water from the ocean maybe reduce the level of salt but it is unrealistic because there will be necessary to build construction that cost a lot and the state is not able to pay for it.
third, is being discussed the other solution and the lecture explains that dividing the lake into several sections unlike to work for a long time and the freshwater will not be able to flow into main section.
In conclusion the lecture cast in doubt with reading because the solutions giving on reading are not suitable to
