Summarize the points made in the lecture you just heard, explaining how they cast doubt on points made in the passage.
The professor starts with stating that it is not that he doesn't believe HIIT doesn't work, however, he is not quite sure of its effectiveness.
Per the lecture, HIIT is not just about doing hard runs and work out, one needs to work way harder and exert maximum effort. Although the passage describes HIIT workouts as fast and intense, it doesn't really clarify the level of intensity as it differs from one person to the next.
The concern that HIIT is painful and might make people sick, as stated by the professor, is the reason why one might try a HIIT work out, feel terrible then give up or continue the work out but not hard enough as required to get its maximum benefit.
The professor highlights that HIIT workout are for people already in shape, this is somewhat in line with the passage when it states that HIIT is used by atlethes with limited time. However, ordinary people may not be interested or effective in a HIIT workout except this person was already fit by engaging in traditional workouts.
The question on the effectiveness of HIIT is highlighted by the professor's example of how body fat was measured in the 1990s, using calipers. He mentioned the high rate of error that resulted from the study when same caliper used for body fat measurement could result in different readings. Alas, results from this study is still referenced in today's discussions on HIIT.
