t which annihilated many species. However, finding all ideas questionable and implausible, the professor in the listening by estroyed the food chains of species which lived on the coast. Conversely, the professor disputes this point by clarifiying the fact that land species had the ability to adapt themselves to changes. Moreover, this change was quite gradual asserts that asteroid strike have blocked sunlight for a long time which caused a mass extiction as a last point for supporting that ma

Actually, both the passage and the lecture discus about a huge extinction that happened at the end of Triassic period. Although, the passage brings three hypothesizes for expressing the reason of vanishing of half of all living species, the professor puts those theories under question. According to the professor, none of them are convincing.

First, as the passage mentioned, sea level is counted as a significant factor that cause the extiction. The less sea level, the less creatures which can be survived; however, the lecturer doesn't reinforce the claim by adding the fact that the level of sea was declined gradually; therefore, it couldn't be an effective factor.

Next, as the passage illustrated, weather circumctance influenced the animal and plant population to be eliminated; the global tempreture reduced when sulfur acid dispersed; nevertheless, the professor dismises the idea by emphasizing the fact that the time of presentation of sulfur acid was short enough that couldn't cause extiction.

Finally, the passage asserts the thought that the extinction may accure because of the asteroids' impacts which destroys the environment; on the other hand, the professor doesn't validate the idea by scrutinizing the time of big asteroids which collided with earth. It was about 12 milion years before the considerable extinction.
