TOEFL T P O 4 - Integrated Writing Task

The article states that there are considerable facts that support the claim, the dinosaur is endotherm; and, it provides three main reasons to support the fact. However, the professor refutes the claim and says that dinosaur is not endothermic and provides reasons that refute each reason taken in the passage.

First, the article posits that one reason for believing that dinosaurs were endothermic is that its fossils have been discovered in polar regions. The professor says that the environment in the polar region is favorable enough to live non-endothermic animals. The professor added, at that time, the dinosaur may have be migrated in the colder climate or hibernate during the colder period; and, during the warmer period, the environment would be favorable enough for the survival of the non-endothermic animal-like a dinosaur.

Secondly, the passage says that underneath leg position is another evidence that supports the claim that dinosaur is endothermic. But, the professor has final says on the fact that the assumption taken by the leg position does not describe the certainty of the endothermic nature of dinosaur. The professor says that it can have extra explanations such as the dinosaur has large body weight; to support it, they must have leg underneath the body, unlike other reptiles.

Thirdly, the article explains the reason for the dinosaur as endothermic; Haversian canals are evidence to prove that the fact. The professor concedes the fact that the dinosaur has the canal; but, the professor refutes the claim as it is not enough to describe dinosaur as the endothermic. According to the professor, irregular pattern growth of dinosaur during warm and cold periods evident enough to hold the claim that the dinosaur is not endothermic.
