According to the reading, this is a great idea to increase company profits, reduce unemployment rate, provide extra times to be spent with their families. However, lecturer suggest that it may not affect or deteriorate current status of companies or employees.

First of all, author points out that decreasing working days lead to an increase in company profits since hiring new employees do not result in additional payroll cost. However, this point is challenged by lecturer. Lecturer explains that reducing working hours come up with requirement to new employees, meaning that more health insurance, office spaces, and computers have to be provided.

In additionally, author claims that unemployment rate is reduced as it happens. Lecturer rebuts this argument. She proposes that this may cause to work over time in working days. In other word, it may ascend expectations. For instance, boss might assume that work done in 4 days ought to be as same as work done in 5 days.

Finally, reading suggests that this provides more time to employee to be spent with their families this may enhance quality of their lives. However, according to lecture, this is not the case. In fact, in regards to reading, this might descend job opportunities, since they are not going to use that extra time to improve themselves; henceforth, this harms their advancement in careers. Also, boss may not give priority to get promotion to them, as well.
