TPO-02 - Integrated Writing Task In many organizations, perhaps the best way to approach certain new projects is to assemble a group of people into a team. Having a team of people attack a project offers several advantages. First of all, a group of people

Lecturer casts doubt on working on project as a group is beneficial. The points made in the passage that working as a group has numerous benefits such as having more knowledge, and skills. In addition, when working in a group members are more quicker to get a solution , and more likely to choose risky option that working alone.

According to the passage working as a group has advantages such as sharing experiences, ,knowledge and skills in order to finish the project. In addition, it has more man force, creative ideas and are finished quicker compared to a project done alone. When project fails it is better to handle the responsibilities together rather than alone. By contrast, professor points out that when working as a group there is always at least one free rider who does not do anything and takes credit of the ones who worked hard to finish the project. When the project is successfully done all group members are praised including the free rider and members who worked hard are not happy about this.

Another reason professor mentioned is some projects go much slower because group members are slow in getting an unanimous decision. While working as a group having same opinion is very important. For some cases very opposite people are assigned in the same groups which slows down their progress when different opinions are held withing the group.

Lastly, the passage indicates that when working as a group people share their responsibilities and rewards is a good character of teamwork. However, the professor argues that there are some cases when someone in the group gets too influential. While the group is discussing a solution and is almost done, an influential intrudes and adds creative ideas but other teammates disagree and tell why this idea will not work. Unfortunately the rest of the group follows the influential ignoring others suggestion. As a result, when the project fails all group members are scolded for one person's mistake.
