TPO-03 - Integrated Writing Task Rembrandt is the most famous of the seventeenth-century Dutch painters. However, there are doubts whether some paintings attributed to Rembrandt were actually painted by him. One such painting is known as attributed to Rem

Both the passage and lecture are talking about Rembrandt's painting. The writer refutes that it is actually related to Rembrandt, but he/she suggests some problems that it could be painted by someone else. The professor, on the other hand, demonstrates that it is indeed related to Rembrandt by mentioning some examinations.
First, the writer mentions something eccentric about the way that the woman in the painting is dressed. In fact, she is wearing a cap that only servants wear it while she is wearing a luxurious coat of fur, that would be affordable for a servant. The writer, therefore, claims that Rembrandt would have pay attention for these details. In the lecture, the professor points an examination showed that the painting colors are not the original so these colors were added to the painting over years to increase its value.
Second, the writer argues that there are some elements in the painting do not fit together like light and shadow. In addition, Rembrandt was professional at these elements. In contrast, the professor proves that the light was absorbed because of the addition of colors to the painting because when removing these colors the reflection of the her face will appear.
Finally, the last problem is that the painting was painted in panel wood that consists of several pieces of wood while Rembrandt accustomed to use only on piece. On the other hand, the professor says that when the painting was colored again it was enlarged. She claims that there is only an original one piece.
