Both the passage and lecture are mainly about reading books. The author of the passage claims that people nowadays tend to read less than they used to do in the past while the professor of the lecture casts doubt on the claim made in the passage. To commence with, the passage states that the number of books, that are being read today, are dwindling little by little. As a result, people knowledge and literature are declining in the same way, but the professor, on the opposite side, argues that when people do not read books, that does not mean they have less knowledge. Finally, the passage indicates that writers nowadays lack to support.in addition there are lots of professional writers need encouragement from audience by reading their writings. on the contrary, the professor admits that it is not the readers' fault. She says writers should be palmed for their complicated and unfavorable books in many cases.
