TPO-03 - Integrated Writing Task Rembrandt is the most famous of the seventeenth-century Dutch painters. However, there are doubts whether some paintings attributed to Rembrandt were actually painted by him. One such painting is known as attributed to Rem

The painting was confirmed as the original work of Rembrandt after the thorough examination of the painting in the lecture. There are several reasons which clarified that the validity of painting.

First, after the research done through
x- ray and pigmentation, it had been revealed out that colours were painted over the top of the original painting 100 years ago to increase the value of painting of an aristocratic woman. So, the first doubt casted in the passage about the inconsistency of Rembrandt's work had been settled.

Second, he was known to master of painting light and shadow which was seem to be absent in the painting according to the passage. But, the lecture maintained the authenticity of the point by explaining the fact that when the fore colours were removed from the top of the original painting, it was about a simple clothed woman wearing a light colored cloak which reflected light. That is why there was no partial shadow in the face.

Third, inorder to enlarge the painting, additional pieces of wood were glued together over the back of painting to give it a grand look. However, the original painting was made with a single piece of wood. From the research, the information had been fathomed that same piece of wood from same tree was used in his self portrait wearing a hat.

Therefore, it was concluded as the original work by Rembrandt.
