The reading discuss use of Chaco canyon in new Mexico in American southwest was notable for massive building and contains 100 rooms ,although the lecturer was not agree , because although building from inside are looking like American ,but from out side its cast doubt.
First, the reading claims that structure of building clearly shows that its a purely residential and at each houses hundred people could live , however the lecture provide evidence of 10 fire places in the structure ,so if hundered of people was living there , there must be more fire places as well.
Second, the reading found store of food supply like maize crops and they store maize crops for long periods of time without spoiling , the lecturer dispute the argument by pointing out if green maize crops was stored than why maize crops scattered on floors.
Finally, the reading states that houses used for special ceremonies and gathering of large number of people ,because large number of broken pots found in area, in contrast lecturer said its not convincing , because another material such as sand , stone were found in area as well. it can be trush of construction not evidence of ceremonies.
