TPO-09 - Integrated Writing Task Car manufacturers and governments have been eagerly seeking a replacement for the automobile's main source of power, the internal-combustion engine. By far the most promising alternative source of energy for cars is the hy

Both reading and the lecture are about the hydrogen-based fuel-cell engine which is replacement for the automobile's main source of power. The author of the reading thinks that the hydrogen-based-cell engine is the best beneficial way. However, the speaker of the lecture casts doubt the passage by proving disadvantage of hydrogen-based fuel-cell engine.

First of all, from the text, the author believes that hydrogen-based fuel-cell engine can make us free from the problem about petroleum which can run out someday. The lecture opposes what the reading claims. She says that the pure liquid state of hydrogen which is for using the hydrogen-based fuel-cell engine is almost impossible.

The reading points out that the hydrogen-based fuel-cell engine is an attractive solution for many pollution problems because it can reduces the carbon dioxide. But, the lecturer believes that the process of making the pure hydrogen can pollute the environment;thus it is not environmental friendly.

The passage says that hydrogen-based fuel-cell engine is economically effective by spending less money than fuel energy. The speaker of the listening disagrees with what the passage believes. She thinks that the material for making pure hydrogen is expensive; if they use cheaper resources, it will be harder.
