TPO-11 - Integrated Writing Task A recent study reveals that people especially young people are reading far less literature, novels, plays, and poems, than they used to. This is troubling because the trend has unfortunate effects for the reading public, for

The reading and the lecturer are both for reading novels and how it is used. The reading claims that from recent study people who read literature has diminished sharply and that this robs benefits of literature from them. However, the lecturer casts doubts on this claim, mentioning that the decrease has advantages it exhibits.

Firstly, the reading notes that from literature people can imagine, empathize with others and increase understanding. Therefore, the decline in reading it reduces the intellectual abilities of people. However, the lecturer refutes this idea. She demonstrates that other types of writing like politics and history can also stimulate people's intellectual abilities. Moreover, they provide high-quality readings which are more fascinating and creative than literature.

In addition, the reading states that people lose the advantages of literature challenges through the use of other ways like television and videos. Despite the point of the reading, the lecturer argues that people still receive the information that literature provides but from other ways which are a result of culture change. She illustrates that watching movies and listening to songs is more enjoyable than reading literature which is challenging.

Finally, on one hand, the reading mentions that decline in reading brings down the upcoming writers who are enormously talented. On the other hand, the lecturer claims that people should not be blamed that they do not read instead the writer should examine their writings because most of them are hard to comprehend. Therefore, that is why people prefer using other uncomplicated ways.
