The reading states that the growth of human population in the US decreases the number of birds population and provides three reasons of support. However, The professor says that the evidence of reading is not convincing and refutes each of the reasons.

First, the bird habitats have destroyed because of building home and mall for humans. The professor opposes this point by saying that it is true that the population of a group of birds declines but it is not right about all of the birds. In the urban areas, as an example, many people complain about the increase of some types of birds including pigeons. As a result, declining a uniform type of a bird does not mean that the number of all bird has reduced.

Second, the article claims that the growth of agriculture will result in further birds habitat destruction. However, the professor claims that currently less land is used for agriculture. The growth of agriculture is because of introducing new crops, new foods and new technologies. As a result, we do not need to destroy habitats of the birds to equip farmers with new lands.

Third, the reading states that use of chemical pesticides is harmful to birds and will decrease the number of them in the future. The professor refutes this point by saying that nowadays people are aware of consequences of using pesticides in the agriculture and because of that there are 2 main changes in the agriculture sector. First, introducing new pesticides that are not harmful to humans and environment. Second, farmers are inclining toward produce pesticide-resistant crops. This crops will reduce chemical usage of pesticides and don not harm human and birds at all.
