The article and lecture both discuss genetically modified trees. The article claims planting genetically modified trees on a large scale promises to bring a number of benefits and provides three reasons to support it. However, the lecturer casts doubt on this claim and refutes each of the reasons.

Firstly, the professor avers that this genetically modified trees are resistant to only one typical condition. Actually, these trees are uniform. So, if the climates changes or new pests appear these threes will be destoyed. But the text contends that these trees are harder than nature threes.

Secondly, the lecturer states genetically modified trees have a great costs. Farmers should pay more money for buying them. Even at some points, the farmers should pay the supplier every time after their products had been produced. On the other hand, the article declares these trees promis to bring a number of economic benefits to farmers due to the number factors such as tending to grow faster, giving the greater yields, and etcetera.

Finally, the professor mentions that genetically modified trees damage local trees. Typically, these trees are are planted among natural trees. As a result, these trees crowding out the natural trees. But the text claims these trees can prevent overexploitation of wild trees.
