However, the modified trees need to be planted every year and people cannot collect their seeds to replant them. Therefore, it costs a lot of money each year.
Finally, the author of the reading states that the use of genetically modified trees can a prevent overexploitation of wild trees. The lecture on the other hand, opposes this point by stating that these trees will cause damage to the other wild trees because they compete for the resources like sunlight and water along with the natural trees.
